Pharmaceutical Development (APD) platform drives digitization in
two business areas, cutting across both complex synthetic
modalities & biologics, that combined deliver AstraZeneca's
chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) which are crucial
activities when developing new pharmaceutical
products.Accountabilities/Duties:As Lead Engineer, you will be task
managing a team of engineers. You will be contributing towards
building and maintaining a high-performance engineering culture.
You will be given an environment allowing you to use your
experience and lead from the front whilst also being a key decision
maker in how we grow our platform.You and the team will be
technically responsible for the platform delivery as well as
supporting the services that run within the platform.Essential
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Deep understanding of AWS Compute, Storage, Container and
Networking services
- You are able to map out and delegate responsibilities to the
engineers you task manage, providing a challenging yet encouraging
environment
- Able to deep dive into an AWS service and evaluate its
usefulness
- You are used to working hands-on and will be capable to carry
out all platform engineering tasks yourself
- You have spent some years doing software development and fully
understand what a developer needs to be productive
- Agile / DevOps practices are known to you since long back
- You understand the benefits of building and maintaining CI/CD
pipelines and are able to do so
- You understand when to scale vertically and horizontally for
maximum business value
- You're a master collaborator and able to work with all
partners, understanding their needs and offering solutions
- You are mindful of AWS costs, always seeking to minimize cost
and improve benefit, even though this is not always possible the
good intention is always there
- You are able to write minimal yet meaningful documentation
- You are able to mentor other specialists, so they are able to
grow to your heights of achievement
- You have a strong understanding of the AWS and wider
observability and alerting landscape
- You handle incidents with care and attention to detail -
ensuring we log and handle incidents mindfully, gather takeaways so
to be better going forwards
- Always look to uphold the best practices and refactor our IaC
to ensure we remain lean
- You understand the cyber security threats of today and how to
manage them efficiently using security practices and tools. You are
prepared to collaborate with the central cloud security team to
ensure enterprise security standards are followed.
- You have experience working in accordance with ITSM/ITIL
processesThe annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for
this position ranges from $123,114 to $184,672. Hourly and salaried
non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime when working
qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on
multiple individualized factors, including market location,
job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our
positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity;
eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive
program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution
(hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).

plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and health benefits
including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage
in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable
